  • If you can find an eye glass shop that can order them OvvOs. I’m pretty rough with my glasses (rock climber, falls asleep with glasses on, general clutz and eats it while walking) and I just had the lenses on mine swapped out for my new prescription after 4 years and they’ve held up wonderfully. One of the arms broke when they were adjusting the fit on my face (metal fatigued after 4 years of abuse). The company sent out a new set of arms and got them swapped out ASAP now they’re good as new (plus they sent a new set of all of the soft bits too). As a bonus they’re not Luxottica owned (if that matters to you).

  • Your handle does work for all of the various Lemmy servers. But to access them it’s like your email, you wouldn’t log in to your Gmail account from Yahoo. Yahoo has no idea what your Gmail username and password is. So how can it let you in? And like email because both servers speak the same protocol you can interact with other users on other servers just like if you had their email address.

In your case lemmy.one is your email server so to speak. You can access any other Lemmy community or set of communities on another lemmy server by searching directly for their address on your home server or if someone else has interacted with another server already that server’s communities will show up in your home server’s All list and you can see those posts there and interact with them as if they were local to your home server.

  • Currently running an R710 in RAID6 with 32TB usable, but between the data on plex and backups of things in the rack I’m low on space.

I’m looking at getting 8 Odroid HC4s and some referbed 20TB drives to build a Glusterfs cluster that will host all of my VM disks and backups. At least with that I’ll have 80-120TB depending on how much fault tolerance I have. Because they have two HDD slots I can double my storage when it gets low and just add more boards to expand the array when I’m tight for space again.
