An advantage to the use of miles for distances is that 60mph works out to 1 mile a minute. Where I grew up most of the speed limits were capped at 55, so that worked out to a very easy approximation. 50 miles to go? That’s about 50 minutes (barring traffic).

Less accurate now that speed limits have been pushed up to 65 (so people drive 75 or 80) but better to arrive before your ETA than after.

Annoying thing with those is driving where the law requires lights to be on when using wipers in the rain. But the rain isn’t always enough to make it dark enough to activate automatic lights. So you have to switch your lights to on rather than automatic.

The Dow might be up, but probably would be doing better under Harris.

Even the 50000 that the Trump administration was trying to praise is underwhelming. The DOW hits record highs under every president, it’s the nature of the stock market that in the medium term it goes up.

But it hasn’t gone up as fast as we’d expect under a booming economy.

Most people with high paying jobs and degrees didn’t vote for Trump if they were smart. Nobody smart thought Trump would be good for the economy.

He was good for the extremely wealthy, but not everyone else’s pockets.
