Reminds me of an article I read today: On german Autobahn there are cool signs here and there about the region e.g. beautiful landmarks. These signs used to cost 3000-4000€, but since Andreas Scheuer (think about him like a bitch for corporations) privatized the facility responsible for them, the cost has risen to 70000€ per sign and know it seems like they are getting abandoned.

j5906@feddit.orgto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.ca•How long would it take to purposely empty a SodaStream carbon cannister?7·28 days agoDont, CO2 is a poison in a high enough concentration in your kitchen. If you absolutely must do it outside.
Also the cylinder will get fucking cold, like -78°C cold. The cold will lower the remaining CO2s vapor pressure, so youd need to do it in 3 cycles per cylinder to get it 99% empty

j5906@feddit.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Those working from say 1970 to 2000, did you notice a change in office tempers as lead poisoning wound down?5·1 month agoWell you can give mammals lead and they turn batshit crazy, everytime and in short periods of time.
If you give them plastic, some studies find some behavioral changes depending on what plastic, which particle sizes and how its administered, but to be honest it doesnt seem to play in the same league as lead at all.
Like in this study: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7282048/ Table 1: Wistar rat, 10mg/kg oral 35 days, no alterations in behaviour.
Not saying there is no effect at all, there likely is, but here we have to look carefully for it, while with lead poisoning you could see and hear the “alterations in behaviour” from 100m away.
In my first practical chemistry course I referred to a container filled with gas as “gas chamber”, to make things worse I am german…
You can see it from space
Is so!

This is like saying the idea capitalism is incomplete because a true free market would soon sell fentanyl, organs and slaves, aswell as find every possible way to dump their trash into rivers. Both ideologies are merely mind games and contain abstract concepts like a free market (that is never truly free) or owning the means of production (that doesnt mean you can take your part of the machine home).
Also nowhere in the theory of communism is it mentioned that you should classify and control people. There are sentences like that by Marx himself but this is always a description of what he witnessed in his life under monarchy.
Just one example: You mentioned that communism should be classless but communists somehow love classifying. You got the first part partially correct, communism should try to eliminate classes. But do they love classifying? Absolutely not, they say its a necessary tool, in a non-communist society to be aware of the class you are in and try to break down class barriers around you, this achieving this classless society.
What you did, was saying: “Doctors love to pretend they heal you, yet somehow they love stabbing you” leaving out the fact that they stab you with needles/syringes in a controlled manner and they dont love the “stabbing” part, they love the part were after the stabbing you get better because of it.
j5906@feddit.orgtoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•So many people love to shit on these "commie-blocks" for no real reason.112·2 months agoThey are very common in Germany and are in general really safe, the only crime going on there was smoking pot (which is not a crime anymore). I myself did not grow up in one, but many friends have and I still frequently visit people there. Floors, stairs and elevators are clean, neighbours greet you, when someone new moves in its common to help them as a neighbour.
Recently one of these houses was in the news “weißer Riese” in Duisburg because of crime. Now Duisburg is basically Germanys Detroit, used to be a coal mining city and has nothing else going on for it (still the homicide rate for Duisburg is 20x lower than for Detroit lol). And this house is 55years old and has been neglected by the developers, so rent for an apartment there is basically the lowest of any German city and in Germanys most undesirable city and somehow people wonder why there is some crime and this becomes the stereotype for all “commie blocks”.
But for every commie block like that you get 1000 others that are really safe and clean, offer cheap rent, are energy efficient as fuck, some even have their own bus or train stations, big playground in the middle and usually more on the edge of the city so closer to nature.
This stereotype thing about commie blocks always reminds me of the american homeless people sleeping in tents in front of the “victims of communism” museum…
PopOS is great, the installation process is like 5minutes, with 4 minutes being the download and boot from USB. From there on you click “next” 5 times and are rebooting into a working system.
To be absolutely honest, I had to do some googling and command line stuff to get my fingerprint reader in the laptop working but that was the only thing that needed any attention. But I never did a Windows install where I didnt have to configure at least 2-3 drivers, so I consider it a draw.
From there one it is the typical stuff: You need one proprietary software? You have to figure it out for hours how to get it to work. You are fine with open source options? Go enjoy a blazing fast ad-free non intrusive non annoying OS. For me the trade of is worth it. Been using Linux since I was 14, if I could do it from my kids room with parents switching of WLAN after 22:00 you can do it too.
