  • Genuine response, I’m not trying to argue or be feisty, I’m honestly curious:

I was raised with Zionist views and so my background and knowledge leans very pro-Israelie Jews. I’m hearing your words and when I then follow the last sentence with “so then where do the Israelie Jews go who are being claimed to take the homes of the Palestinians?” I’m brought to a drop in the path as my knowledge says that the homes they’re in (not literally but same location) are their original homes. So, the question is: if we give Palestinians their homes back in Jerusalem and throughout Israel, where do those now displaced people go? Russia, Germany, Poland, etc? Those aren’t their original homes either, they were displaced to there earlier and then had to flee from there eventually as well.

I would really appreciate a continuation of your reasoning or solution-ing - not as a challenge but to understand what happens after the Palestinians get what they need/want. The immediate answer displaces Israelie Jews, yet again, and it’s frustrating as no one comes out and says that straight up. I think that’s where a lot of the frustration in conversations comes from as the silence on that followed question leads to it being perceived as anti-semetic rhetoric eventually being answered as “fuck them - they’re from nowhere and have no claim or right to any land” which eventually leads to the jump of “they’re not worth anyone’s time” which leads to worse.

Please note: I’m not inviting name calling or rude comments, I’m purely looking for a civil discussion to broaden my views and am open to alternative viewpoints from my own.

  • I mean, if a household that keeps kosher has two sets of everything (plateware, silverware, sinks, etc) to make sure meat doesn’t touch dairy…the logic states you should have a different machine/method for excrement-related things to ensure it doesn’t touch your normal plateware and silverware.

I, personally, would not be comfortable using the machine again for food related things if I found out my housemate had washed the toilet brush in our dishwasher. Poop is meant to be expelled from your body, not consumed in any way - may I remind (the royal) you how pink eye originates?

  • Hey there. I’ve been there. It’s so hard and seems impossible, you’re completely right. My heart aches for you.

Take some time to grieve and start to get back to a routine, slowly expose yourself to people by going to a restaurant or aquarium. Reflect on how you can feel connected to the world again, think of what brings you joy and start to do it again. Or even, what you think would bring you joy and dip your foot in it. Go for a road trip to a nearby forest or mountain or piece of nature that you haven’t taken the time to visit yet. Breathe some fresh air daily. You can do this, you can move forward. You aren’t leaving them behind. Some days get easier and some don’t, but you can get through it.

  • I haven’t read all of the comments on here, but here are mine that are more beauty related that improve my quality of life:

    • a bottle of oil makeup remover and face cleanser, specifically the DHC Cleansing Oil that you put on your dry face, rub lightly all over and then rinse off. Gone are the days of drying out your face and creating more waste with makeup remover wipes.

    • if you prefer just water and no oil, a simple soft makeup remover towel is a dream, removes makeup with just getting the cloth wet and then gently rubbing on your face and eyes. Buy a pack of like 12 or something as you shouldn’t use the same towel more than once to clean your face - the bacteria it gets on there can actually make your skin worse if you use it multiple times before washing.

    • sunscreen! Omg if you don’t moisturize or use sunscreen you’re doing yourself a disservice. Do yourself a favor and make it easier by gettinga 2-in-1 moisturizer+SPF. Good brands being dermatologist recommended CeraVe or flight attendant/aesthetician recommended Kiehls. Honestly, throw in some lip balm from them too or their overnight lip mask where you put it on before bed and wake up with super soft and non-chapped lips - a lifesaver especially when you’re sick and end up mouth breathing all night.

    • a microfiber dedicated hair towel - immediately after your shower wrap up your hair in this for like 5-10 min and then your hair won’t be sopping wet and will be less frizzy from the lack of scratchy towel drying. Bonus, you get to look cool in a hair wrap.

    • an eyelash growth serum, my favorite is Babelash. Gone are the days of falsies or weak thin lashes that don’t keep debris out your eyes. Put this on your lid lash line religiously every night for a week then alter every other day and then after about 3 weeks you should see results and then use as-needed. Stuff is amazing and you can get a two-pack at Costco even - just don’t buy the ones off Amazon as it’s a knock off formula and you’re putting stuff near your eyes so be mindful about that.

    • nail cuticle oil, my fingertips get dry and I end up picking them. Not to mention how much healthier your nailbeds will be when you start using this. Put some on your cuticles and then rub it in - I do it mindlessly while I’m watching TV or something. Helped me get my nails back after biting them for decades.

    • a cozy pair of soleless slippers, I prefer the brand “snoozies!” I wear those all the time I’m in the house and love that I can even put them on the couch or wherever as I don’t go outside with them. Alternatively, a good pair of slippers with a sole you wear to get the mail with if you are in chill mode and don’t wanna put on actual shoes for small outdoor tasks.

That’s all I can think of right now, but those are some of my favorites for smaller daily life improvements.

  • Universal copy - turns your screen into a notepad basically where you can copy any text currently showing on it - super handy for a multitude of things

Twilight - you can set a timer or match it with the sunset/sunrise to redshift your screen to help ease the transition to bedtime by negating the blinding blue screen. I have it set to an hour before I’m supposed to be in bed and love it.

If you have a Samsung: Goodlock - shit let’s you customize to your heart’s content without the need for a different launcher. Pretty awesome imo for a low barrier entry customized phone setup.

Marco Polo - I use this with my family constantly since we live across the world from each other; it’s a short video messaging service where you communicate with short videos and history is kept indefinitely. Like snapchat but no disappearing ability and no ads or influencer shit. They also handle it pretty well when you lose a loved one by preseving their account separate from their phone number as, obviously, they won’t have ownership of that anymore. Good dev team who listens to feedback and not owned by a bigger corp afaik.
