Anytime you want to start your own blog on your own server, you can export your posts to that server. I’m pretty sure you can also export your blog to another WriteFreely blog. There is no lock-in.

ghosthand@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•ELI5 why is anarchy not "the guy with the bigger stick" making the rules?English91·1 year agoPhilosophize This has just started a podcast series on Anarchy that I’m finding informative. The podcasts are short and all have transcripts. The first episode is here: https://www.philosophizethis.org/podcast/anarchism-part-one.
The second part just came out this past week.

ghosthand@lemmy.mlto Major League Baseball@lemmy.ml•Dodgers get their ace, agree to $325M deal with Yamamoto (source)English3·2 years agoI like Yamamoto, but as a Yankee fan, I’m happy we lost out. 12 years is long time for an unproven player in the mlb. Plus he’s 5’9". Small pitchers usually don’t last long in the league.

I tried to like elementary and used for it for months awhile ago. But it was missing so many basic features for an OS. Eg, they only just added bulk rename to the file manager.
ghosthand@lemmy.mlOPto Technology@lemmy.ml•Midjourney, Stability AI and DeviantArt win a victory in copyright case by artists — but the fight continues184·2 years agoI tend to agree with the judge’s assessment. He must make a decision based on existing law and the plaintiff’s claim/argument. You’re right existing law doesn’t cover this aspect of technology which is why there needs to be new laws enacted by Congress. And the courts are put in a no win situation here because we’ve failed to establish new rules and regulations for this new technology.
The plaintiff’s claim of derivative work doesn’t fit here because of what has already been long established what a derivative work looks like. AI generated images aren’t really derivative works.
I think rightfully, the court has told them to try again, which is ok.

Looks good so far for basic editing. And the node graph system is an interesting concept. But I’m not sure about trying to be the jack of all trades app.
How about we enact privacy laws that protect the users?
Trying another instance might be a good idea. If you have problems on the other instance then you know it’s a BW problem and maybe file a bug report. But don’t give up on BW! It’s a pretty neat piece of software that the fediverse needs.
I was able to import my library from Goodreads without much issues. After that it was pretty straightforward.
ghosthand@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.ml•Elon Musk, new owner of Twitter, tweets unfounded, anti-LGBTQ conspiracy theory about Paul Pelosi attack3·3 years agoI agree. I was listening to a podcast where a couple of journalist were saying how they hated twitter, but they felt they needed it to promote their work. As you said, this type of thinking is dumb and dangerous.
Both Silversun Pickups and Metric put out new albums recently. They both are great.
Unfortunately, it’s pretty common here on Lemmy. I remember getting downvoted a lot for saying gov’ts shouldn’t punish it’s citizens for criticizing it. And you can probably guess which gov’t I said it about.
I know it’s not a unique thought, but I think advances in A.I. in all areas is going to be a game changer.
CEOs and EDs do the same jobs. Just different names. In the U.S. there’s been a push by many non profits to change the title to CEO. Only because it sounds sexier.
