Yes! I liked that aspect in both the books and the games.

That’s why I don’t do any of the quests in Skyrim that kills a giant or mammoth. They’re just doing their thing, won’t mess with you if you don’t mess with them or their stuff.
Finally found a good one! This is Diesel.

Is it a thing with orange cats to like to stretch out? My guy loves to sleep fully stretched out, like arms over head and feet way out behind him. I swear he’s like four feet long.
Yesssssss! I can still remember it.

News@lemmy.world•Minute Maid is discontinuing frozen juices after 80 years
26·14 days agoWhat weird timing. My husband and I were just telling our daughter how there used to be so many different types of frozen juice and now there’s hardly any.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Want to try Lasuite numérique (Visio, Docs, Drive), the french open source self-hosteable office suite? I've been working on a way to install it in one commandEnglish
1·18 days agoShe knows, it’s what I use every day. The issue is we need a complete system now that we’ve grown from basically one and a half people to 5-6 all in different locations and use different OS’s. She’s very much supportive of open source but none of us are sysadmins…. I struggle enough with my home server, I’m not risking my teams work. We might be able to make this plus a few other things work though. Also for some of our contracts and funding the govt has insisted on windows.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever made friends with a wild animal?
1·23 days agoYup, that’s what a group of them are called. I had to look it up to confirm!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever made friends with a wild animal?
10·23 days agoI wouldn’t say friends exactly but we have a pair of ravens that live in our yard. They have a symbiotic relationship with the cats. The cats catch mice and voles and then leave them in the front yard for the ravens, who are more than happy to gobble them up. There’s a whole unkindness of ravens that live in our woods but these two hang out around the house. In the spring there is constant squawking and chatter from them, it’s so cool to hear.
We also have a permanent resident hummingbird somewhere near the house. He loves the deck and will hover quite close to you when you’re sitting out.
And I can’t forget the flock of wild turkeys that roam the neighborhood. Every afternoon they stroll through the yard and last summer a mama and her babies were roosting in the trees out front. Around seven years ago there was a pair of albino babies born and now that flock has white feathers throughout. I have a video somewhere I should post.
It’s a veritable bird paradise over here lol.
It reminds me of Richard Scary in the best way.
That you for the rundown on this! I’ve always wondered and hoped that this was the case. I really like that they give you the space to be creative and test things out. I would imagine that makes you more nimble out in the field. Able to pivot and not be reliant on orders from above to make decisions.
I’ve worked with the navy quite a bit as a supplier so I totally get the part about procurement! But seriously, fuck March madness. It drives me crazy to see the waste just because your budget might get cut.
I love playing video games, especially open world ones like Skyrim, BG3, AC, and the EE versions of Neverwinter and such. Or Divinity 2 couch coop with my husband. I cannot stand watching tv or movies on the other hand. I always feel like there’s something else I should be doing, whereas with games I am doing something. Tv is also like coffee to me, it wakes my brain up and I can’t sleep. All that being said I don’t play that often. Usually in bursts and then a different hobby takes my attention for a few days/weeks/months. I don’t mind the repetitive tasks/quests generally, it’s nice to have a set, familiar goal sometimes and then back to the storyline. I never play games online, I don’t want to be pressured or heaven forbid yelled at. I just want to wander about, pick some flowers, kill some dragons. You know? I am a bit of a completionist for maps and loot, don’t really care about the achievements though.
I do agree with you on the gamification thing. It does nothing for me and just annoys me. Glad that it works for others though!
Not sure where you are but apparently tonight is a good night for them across Canada! I’m going to wander out later and see what I can see.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What kind of keychain do you keep your keys on?
3·1 month agoI have the same keychain from when I was 15, so over 30 years. My buddy had a party at his house and someone left their keys. After about two weeks and no one claiming them I switched my crappy keychain for it and left the keys with him. It’s a fork that the tines have been made into curls, lays flat though. It makes me happy to look at.

You’re not alone, I feel the same way. I love the act of traveling almost as much as getting to my destination. I really like your quest description! I always look at it like a game. Figuring out the secret ways in the airport, gaming the system.
