There was a lot of unlearning and learning. The main shift was from the notion of there is nothing to develop to the notion that there is something to develop, which entailed abandoning the faith in buddhanature, and adopting a faith in having the capacity to work towards awakening through my own efforts. I made the switch after realizing what I was taught and practiced was not addressing the problem of dukkha.
Yes, I switched from Soto Zen to the Thai forest tradition of Theravada.
This or that tradition was not my concern, but rather getting guidance on establishing right view.
