If you want a privacy focused VPN then Mullvad is great.
If you want one for torrents then it’s no good.
I mean a whole lot of horror movies would end in 5-15 minutes if the victims weren’t idiots who decide to explore the obviously dangerous “thing”.

Last time I touched a Samsung Galaxy Tab Active (also rugged) it had removable batteries too (And could run on power without battery connected). Isn’t that standard for rugged tabs?

I haven’t tried Sync-in but if simple is what you want then a Synology DS225+ should get you up n running quickly.

Which part of the seafile install was it that made you back off?

Ah sorry, I see you mentioned the linux surface kernel in your Zorin OS text.
You could always keep using Windows 10 even after EOL and allow LAN access but forbid internet access for the Surface in your router. That would require you to save your art to some sort of network storage before using another device to upload it to the net though.

When it comes to Surface Pro tablets I find that going with this Kernel helps a lot:

Seems that LTE and Camera isn’t working properly but that the rest works:

Depends on which Piefed instance you’re trying to contact and for what reason.
In the cases of feature requests a good place to start would be piefed.social/c/piefed_meta - !piefed_meta@piefed.social
If it’s about contacting a specific piefed instance then check their about page, f.e.: https://piefed.europe.pub/about
If it’s about helping out with developing etcetera then this page has links that will bring you to the right place: https://join.piefed.social/
My wife’s old gaming pc lasted 2016 - 2025 with the only upgrade being a new and larger SATA SSD. I’ve never had a gaming pc last that long before and the cost per year turned out really great.
I really hope that the consumer market get back on track before I need to make any more larger purchases.

Now that sek has strengthened towards euro and usd, the percentage of swedes who want the euro has lowered again.
May 2024 34,4% positive / 46,1% negative
May 2025 32% positive / 49,5% negative
32,0 procent uppgav att de skulle rösta ja till euron om det var folkomröstning i maj, medan 49,5 procent uppgav att de skulle rösta nej. Det kan jämföras med 34,4 respektive 46,1 procent i mätningen i maj 2024.

I’m waiting for the game to be released on gog.com. I really enjoyed the first game.

And for those that don’t want to follow a random youtube link:
A Message Regarding ICE in Minnesota
Transcript (English Auto-generated)
Before we wrap up this broadcast here, I want to deliver a quick message as the program director of privacy guides about the current state of the United States of America.
As a motan and a resident of the city of Minneapolis myself, this is a very important issue to me.
We’re only one month into 2026 right now.And already this year, ICE agents of the federal government of the United States are responsible for the extrajudicial killings of two American citizens right here in my city for exercising their constitutional rights.
This happened as part of a larger ICE campaign to terrorize my neighbors and this country, which is a campaign that I know many motans protested in forest last week and I know many American patriots are protesting today.
Our mission at Privacy Guides has always been to support the right of privacy for all people regardless of political views or the country that people live in.
It’s also our mission to speak out against government overreach, particularly when it comes to surveillance and especially when government agencies are being pitted against the very taxpayers and citizens that they are meant to protect and serve. Here in the United States, that’s meant recently speaking out against the Democrats who aim to increase surveillance and censorship through bills like KOSA or the planned repeals of section 230.
But now against Republicans certainly in our government who are weaponizing the state surveillance systems and law enforcement bodies like ICE to target their perceived political enemies and immigrant members of our communities without respect to their legal residency status or any due process. This weaponization of ICE by the Trump administration is not happening in a vacuum.
It’s fueled by the very surveillance data and the lack of digital boundaries that we have been fighting against for years.
Laws which were enacted within my lifetime, like the Patriot Act, and loopholes like the continued lack of regulations against commercial data brokers, which allow the government to bypass the Fourth Amendment entirely by purchasing our own GPS and social media data from tech companies to map out our neighborhoods for raids.
Minneapolis has also become the testing ground for invasive and inaccurate facial recognition apps like Mobile Fortify, where AI glitches, just like we talked about in this episode, can lead to unlawful detentions of innocent people and the sort of state sponsored surveillance that took the lives of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Petti. In times of overreach, our greatest defense is our community and our refusal to be intimidated into silence.
And I’ve seen how powerful that this can be firsthand. The reality is that how ICE is operating within the borders of the US is unjustifiable.
So we here recognize the significance of this unprecedented situation and we stand alongside everyone who’s protesting in support of the protection of our neighbors and for American rights, which is something that I think all Americans should support.Thank you all for tuning in. I hope you all have an excellent weekend.
I usually wait for a month or two before upgrading to the latest version, but haven’t had any troubles.
First thing I do is enable rpm nonfree per this documentation
https://rpmfusion.org/Configuration
And the second is to switch to ffmpeg and add some HAC as per this documentation
https://rpmfusion.org/Howto/Multimedia
If you run an newer Nvidia card you might wanna grab some drivers too, see
https://github.com/devangshekhawat/Fedora-43-Post-Install-Guide?tab=readme-ov-file#nvidia-drivers

They seem to have good builtin support. Let immich make a db backup and then add the db backup directory to your normal backup.
(And the filesystem directory with photos of course)

What I meant with lifestyle was the fact that vegan used to mean not using any products that cause animal suffering, be it a hamburger, leather shoes or makeup tested on animals. None of it is vegan.

While I don’t believe IaaS to be selfhosting I do believe self-managed services on IaaS should be allowed here. It’s the same software stack and requires the same skills so both parties gain from having the discussion in the same place.
Not because I think selfhosting is a badge but because I think it makes sense to call things for what they are.
But I’m an old grumpy who thinks ovo-lakto vegetarians shouldn’t have been allowed to steal the meaning of vegetarian or vegetarians steal it from vegans (and now we no longer got a word to describe old school vegans that makes it a lifestyle not a diet.)

Ah, I take it this is the tactic you use?
Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/ rather than https://addons.mozilla.org/android/ when you find the extension you want to try use the menu button (hamburger/three stripe icon) and toggle “Desktop site” then you can use the “Add to Firefox” button.
Otherwise, if you followed an extension link, you may have to switch to “Desktop site”, then remove /android from the URL in address bar.
It should then install the add-on, but if it tries to download the file instead, then change privacy.resistFingerprinting.block_mozAddonManager back to the default false in about:config.

Yeah, the main tip was that you can use whatever you use to grab streams from youtube on firefox on your computer and add that addon to a collection to get it on your phone.

Creating an addon collection as per this guide allows me to install computer addons to my Android phone:
https://www.androidpolice.com/install-add-on-extension-mozilla-firefox-android/
The addon I use to grab streams didn’t want to work on youtube though, but it worked to grab video streams from other sites.

Honestly most of my notes are just text files describing the installation process saved together with the installation files in a folder on my NAS. Not much of a note taker outside of that. I’ve heard many enjoy Obsidian though. :)
