This is what I immediately thought of, but it also reminds me of looking at Detroit from Windsor. I think it’s a testament to the artist that we can so vividly place this somewhere from our past experiences, and even come to the same thought.

You’re not incorrect, but I do find it ironic since his social media network is just a modified Mastodon instance.

He’s suffered enough.

Well well well, look who likes using banking apps and tap-to-pay.

I made a reply instead of a top level comment, then remembered https://gpldl.com/repository/
I think it’s legit, but verify the code if you can. Since Wordpress plugins are all GPL technically it’s not piracy 🙃

They’re also all GPL due to the nature of Wordpress, even the “paid” ones, so if you can find a copy you’re also in the clear - just be careful of your sources.

That, in and of itself, is not something that can bridge this kind of a gap, but it’s an indication of the ways in which money has been spent while refusing to account for the actual costs of what these programs are.
This is what I see as the important bit, and indicates both a level head and clear communication. We need more politicians across the board who can answer directly like this, and not try to inflate or exaggerate.

Does discovery in the UK work like it does in the US. I don’t have an opinion on this, but I’m interested in what we might learn about Valve from the discovery process.

I appreciate the social permission for so many folks to switch to Linux. KDE has come a long way.

So say we all.

Kind of an extreme viewpoint in my opinion. I personally have no issue with an indy or first time dev using AI assistance for a passion project, my issue is when large studios are replacing talented folks with soulless slop.

When I was in school I was fortunate enough that I had educators who strongly emphasized critical thinking. I don’t think “AI” would be an issue if it were viewed as a research tool (with a grain of salt), backed by interactive activities that showcased how to validate what you’re getting.
The unfortunate part is instructor’s hands are more often than not tied, and the temptation to just “finish the work” quickly on the part of the student is real. Then again, I had a few rather attractive girls flirt with me to copy my work and they didn’t exactly get far in life, so I have to wonder how much has truly changed.

And Fargate… but that’s a conversation for another community.

Just a friendly reminder for the Americans that HIPAA only applies to certain entities under certain conditions. OpenAI is most certainly not one of those entities.

You can opt out of ads on a Roku? Last I checked (like 4 years ago) ads were anywhere in the OS.

If they’re leaving X now, they’ll probably be back. Everyone who actually wanted to leave on moral grounds probably left at least a year ago.

Yep. Atomic doesn’t suit my needs outside of a dedicated gaming machine, but if I help my mom with a new computer, it’s going to have an atomic desktop with KDE. Close enough to windows that she won’t need to learn something new, secure where I won’t have to clean it out every 6 months, and reliable to where she can handle OS updates herself. I just need to be able to run an old version of WordPerfect for her in Wine and she has everything she needs.

Friendly reminder that there are a bunch of fantastic indie games out there that don’t have insane graphic card requirements for a smooth frame rate.
The companies get to fulfill their legal obligation, and the kids who can figure it out unlock the reward of an uncensored community. No one’s IDs are compromised in the process.
Win / win?
