That’s not a bad thing I think. If you switch because you still wanted to connect to that instance, that’s good, because you moved to an instance that more closely aligns with your values (i.e. more closely aligns to what you want to federate/defederate to/from).
Oh yes yes - sorry, I am not advocating for or against defederating lemmy.ml. I was just saying if you find another instance bad or annoying, you might not still want to see their comments and votes, and in this case a defederation would be better than a user-level block.
I just mean if an instance turns bad or malicious in some way (through excessive propaganda or any other reason), that’s a legitimate reason to defederate and blocking cannot stop all malicious acts. Defederation is the only method to actually supress it entirely.
Jeg bruger faktisk bare web-interfacet 🤷. Gennem en PWA, men det er jo bare det samme. Synes egentlig web-interfacet er fint, også til mobil, og jeg mangler ingen features.

Just keep that in mind - defederation is a more effective tool, but obviously it should be used with care.

I agree that defederations should not be done lightly, but I just want to point out that “just block” is not a foolproof strategy. An instance block on Lemmy functions like blocking all communities, so you will still see comments from that instance on other posts. Also, the blocked instance will still influence your feed via their votes.

Well, on the other hand it also has a responsibility to provide a reasonably well-moderated space that doesn’t include bigots or what’s worse.

Its been a focus of mine to try to make lemmy’s comment sorting the opposite of the reddit experience, where the highest rated comment is nearly always just the first one, making all engagement after those first few minutes pointless.
I think your strategy for going the opposite than reddit works quite well when it comes to comments. However, I don’t think it fits so well with posts (not sure if the strategy/sorting for posts and comments use the same methods). Personally I don’t feel great seeing posts older than 24 hours, especially as I have probably already seen that post. It’ll just stick around for way too long.

Jeg har virkelig ingen forståelse for at så mange folk stadig hopper i den der fælde med kosttilskud og andet pseudomedicin. “Jo men ham/hende der jeg følger på Instagram siger jo at det er godt!” Ja, men det får de jo penge for at sige. Det ved de vel godt?
Der er en generel tendens til, at unge fokuserer på jobmarkedets sikkerhed, når de vælger uddannelse.
Det burde vel ikke overraske nogen og jeg tænker da at det er derfor man ser en flugt fra velfærdsfagene som får dårligere og dårligere vilkår.
Måske man bare kunne sige “Stor mangel på billige studieboliger i København og Frederiksberg”…
