  • Curiosity at first after it was mentioned a few times by others. This was back in 2007, and I’ve been off and on with it over the years and being pleasantly surprised with the amount of progress it had made each time I used it.

I switched for good when I built my new PC last year. I didn’t actually mind Windows until it began to get filled with crapware, which has really gotten out of control more recently. It’s just as well that Proton has eliminated the last reason I needed to use it.

  • Ah yep that image retention was awful on their IPS displays. I’ve only seen worse on a Dell Latitude E7240, if that can be believed.

I used a G5 before my V30 and there was that and the GPS being useless on it. I even bent the GPS pins back into place to give them better contact and while that improved things, it was still rubbish.

The modules were interesting even if they were gimmicky and flopped hard. It helped when the charging port began to have issues, since I could just replace the chin to fix it. It was still a cool phone though. It felt like LG were the only ones still trying to innovate there, even if they often missed the mark.

  • I still used my V30 as my daily driver until about a month ago. Only switched finally because the software was so out of date and it wasn’t worth rooting it.

Hardware-wise, it was still working no problem. The battery didn’t have the capacity it once did, but would still last a day. Not bad for being over 5 years old.

Dunno if too many people remembered the bootlooping issues of the G4, V10 and Nexus 5X and if that contributed to LG exiting the market.

  • Nothing will change my decision now. The trust is permanently broken and the damage is irreversible.

They’ve shown that they won’t hesitate to kick out mods at a whim even when it goes against the community’s wishes. Even if the API changes are walked back, Spez resigns and the company apologises, that’s no longer enough to undo what they’ve destroyed. Reddit is done.

I was originally going to simply delete my Reddit account on the 30th. After seeing the farce unravel, I’m also going to nuke all content I’ve created on that platform at the same time. Scorched earth seems to be the only answer now and it’s the least I can do after the continued disrespect they’ve shown to their users, mods and especially the third party app devs. They’re nothing without the communities and the content that they’ve produced.

  • It looks so bulky and unwieldy, and at first glance it seems like it takes some getting used to with the analog sticks being at the top.

But I’ll agree as a Wii U owner that the thing is just so comfortable to use. It’s much lighter than it looks too, and I was able to adapt to the analog stick placement immediately, as if I had always been using it.

Speaking of the battery, mine barely holds a charge anymore. I wouldn’t mind doing something about that.

  • Yikes! That will only render the Reddit self-sabotage to be irreversible. It really has become morbidly entertaining watching Spez’s overly fragile ego result in that site burning itself to the ground in such spectacular fashion over the last few days. If it wasn’t for the third party app devs getting screwed over financially in the process after the rug was pulled from under them.

This place looks to be a silver lining to this whole saga at least. It definitely feels more homely over here with its throwbacks to how forums used to be. It feels like people can actually have a proper conversation again.
