There may not be a lemmy rule against it, but damaging someone’s reputation with false accusations is libel.

1. Get banned for made-up reason X in publicly viewable modlog, without right of reply or recourse.
2. Get doxxed and username tied to your real world name.
3. Doxxers send screenshot of you being banned for X to employer.
4. Employer fires you for irresponsible use of social media.
5. Sue for libel and damages (lost revenue from prematurely terminated employment). Chance of winning probably zero, but a bored no win no fee lawyer, or someone with too much time/money won’t care about that.

All quite implausible, but why any mod would take the risk when a generic reason will suffice or simple insult would suffice is beyond me.

It’s similar amateur hour shit here on kbin. You can ask to have your account deleted, but it won’t happen. If I was a dickhead, I could file a GDPR complaint. You only need to rub one arsehole the wrong way, to open yourself up to a whole load of entirely unnecessary bullshit.

Of course, if it’s a crime to be homeless, it’s also a crime to force or coerce someone into commiting that crime.

I assume this is Northern Ireland, so obviously this isn’t so much a ‘we love the King’ mural as a ‘this is a unionist area’ mural.

This is probably better than a picture of a man in a mask and a UDA flag.

In other words, you would rather that Israel continue bombing Gaza, than that Hamas and Israel sign a ceasefire today.

Almost as if you don’t actually care about the innocent men, women and children who are dying, as you find it politically convenient the conflict continues. Especially in the run-up to the US election.

If I was to give you advice, I’d perhaps say buy a lottery ticket for a few bucks, pop it in a drawer. My logic has always been, that given my luck, I’d probably kill myself only for my ticket to win the lottery. One last cosmic joke. So I use this to delay for a few days or weeks. That or I book a ticket for a movie or make plans from a week from now.

That and distract yourself with tv, games, audiobooks or whatever. I’d say read a book, but I suspect that like me, that’d be hard to focus on. Anything that stops you thinking and offers an escape. Anything to delay for another few days or a week or two. Oh, and spite also helps in the short term. Outliving the bastards who made or make your life shit. Maybe there’s a hateful politician you dislike who’s old and might die soon. Might as well delay a few more weeks for that. Wouldn’t want to miss them dying.

I wish I could give you a hug over the internet, that it would help, or perhaps make a plan to go to Disneyland or some shit to distract ourselves, but this is the internet so that’s not possible.

Depends. The cover is resting on the inside lip which prevents moisture getting in. Ie. this cover is actually significantly bigger than the hole it’s covering.

Eg. if this cover is 25x25, but it’s covering a hole which is less than 18x18 (c=25.5), it’ll be quite hard to drop the cover in.

It’s really strange that it’s square and not round.

It’s not even slightly strange. These are incredibly common all across Europe and the world.

It’s a small cover, almost certainly to service the nearby drainpipe or perhaps for the water or gas connection to a house.

The chance of it falling in the hole is zero unless you’re trying to do it on purpose. Lift and slide, done.

And even if it does fall in, you can simply reach in and pull it out.

1. Manhole covers are not heavy as fuck. They’re meant to be able to lift out. I’ve lifted far larger ones than this no problem.
2. This manhole cover is at most 30x30cm judging by OP’s foot, so weights at most a few kilos.
3. This is a small cover, probably covering a drain, not a hole to the centre of the earth. I have a few around the house. Cable tie, piece of string, lift it out no problem. You lift and slide it aside, it’s not going to fall in unless you’re a complete moron or drunk. If it does fall in, you pull it out, because it doesn’t weigh 100 kg.
4. If you’re worried that this would take your finger off, you’re the kind of person who should hire an electrician to change a light bulb.

Don’t be lazy.

Get a cable tie or some tongs, pull it out, rotate it, done.
