A lot of issues that men face are directly because of the patriarchy so dismantling it is the only way to fight for men’s rights. Not being taken seriously in sexual assaults, not being equally considered for custody, not being able to express emotions - all of these come from the bullshit patriarchal view of strong men and weak women that the patriarchy enforces. It’s all the same fight.

Azov was in the military before Zelensky. I think it’s horseshit that they are officially a part of the military but to use it as justification for Putin’s attacks is nonsense.
We definitely have nazis in the RCMP, that doesn’t make all of Canada nazis nor does it mean we should be invaded by a lunatic.
GracetoPolitics@lemmy.ml•Today the world remembers the people killed in the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests21·3 years agoWow. Thanks for all the info, lots to think about there.
I’m disappointed, especially because there was such a pathetic turnout. I think a big factor was the media coverage saying he would win by a landslide. Most of those media outlets are run by conservative media companies and are obviously biased. Posting poll results like that should be straight up banned.
Graceto Europe@lemmy.ml•Swedish minister of culture Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth's participation in a "racist spectacle" in which she carved up a cake depicting a naked black woman (2012)2·3 years agoA minister of culture should have had enough sense to look at the insanely racist cake, look back to the artist and say “no, thank you”. This is definitely a topic that need to be discussed but there are better ways than a blackface cake. Just because an artist is out there being stupid doesn’t mean we have to sit by and say “ooh how provocative”.
Linde made the cake with a full on golliwog face and said it’s meant to represent how white people consumed black people (which I think he made up after the controversy, frankly). Why would a minister of culture be like “yes, please, let me be the white person you speak of”.
Gross.
GracetoLeft Urbanism@lemmy.ml•Opinion: If you want people to use the public transit system, punctuality is more important than both speed and frequency.4·3 years agoStrongly agree. At least in major centres like Toronto they have apps made by users that will reflect accurate arrival times but in suburbs you’re relying on the set schedule printed. So if the bus is running late or came early you’re just sitting at the stop potentially missing a job interview. And it always gets spun as a user error like “oh if you have an important interview you should just plan ahead”. Kinda hard to do any planning with a shit system though!
