minus-squarecogman@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up32arrow-down1·9 months agoI wonder if this title will ever be false in my lifetime.
minus-squarePennomi@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up28arrow-down2·9 months agoProbably. Although we are trending upwards in a super scary way, this was an El Niño year, so it will likely drop a bit for a couple years. (That being said, we should not marginalize the dangerous nature of the global increase in temperature in any way… we really need to fix this now.)
minus-squarecogman@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up16arrow-down2·9 months agoI believe this year is also supposed to be an El Niño year, at least until June. This stronger and longer El Niño is something that concerns me. Will it ever stop or will we enter a phase where it just keeps pumping up? https://www.climate.gov/news-features/blogs/enso/january-2024-el-nino-update-birds
minus-squarefebra@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up9·9 months agoRemember, El Niño usually has the worst effects a year after. So we’re probably in for a fun 2024.

minus-squareZeroTemp@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·9 months agoYeah 2050s is what I’ve read, and in the US we have about 5 yrs of oil in our reserves.
