As an avs fan I actually am quite happy with this. Newhook has the potential to be amazing but he needs to find a team that can grow alongside him. He is not currently good enough to be 2C for the Avs, and yet putting him on 3C feels like a waste of his potential.

Excited to see what the avs pull in the draft this year! I half expect them to use these picks in a trade before it even starts.

From what I’m seeing Fairbrother is probably a contract equalizer, so not a lot of value there. But maybe he’ll come back from his knee injury and play well. The Eagles are great at developing defenseman

But the interesting thing is what this opens up the opportunity to do moving forward. Seems like a bit of a waste for just a prospect restock and a new contract for JT Compher, so we might see more happen before the draft
