Hey, FUCKER here. For the people who actually remember me, yes I’m still alive. If you’re wondering why I stopped posting, it was a combination of things, but it was mostly caused by my deteriorating motivation to do anything recently. When I first started this community, I was always excited to hear people’s funny thought on the random images I’ve uploaded. Hearing people’s stories motivated me to keep growing this community to what it was. But like everything I touch, I was burnt out. I was (and kinda still) in a period of my life where I had no motivation to do anything in my life. I’ve stopped doing what I loved and started to regret the action I’ve done in the past. Because of that, I’ve stopped being active here and took a mental break for a while, hence the inactivity.

I’ve decided that I don’t really wanna keep posting here anymore. I don’t have the mental motivation to keep this up, so I’ve decided to make a proposition for the community.

I’m willing to let someone else manage this community while I’m gone. They will moderate and upload content to the community for me. If no one wants to take management, then I will shut down this community.

While I do think this sounds a bit harsh, I do think that this is necessary for this community. If someone doesn’t actively moderate, then this community will turn into a generic /c/196 clone. This wont be a popular decision, but I think it’s the best option we got.

Before I go, I just wanna say thank you to anyone who contributed to the community. From the commenters, to the posters, I’m glad we could make an interesting and unique community for Lemmy.

As my token of appreciation, I’ve linked my archive of posts from the original /r/internet_funeral subreddit for you guys to share. This is what I’ve been using for the past 7 months to post here, so I hope you enjoy it. :)

Thanks for everything

I’m very sad to hear that you’ve burned out and I hope it gets better for you. I’m still active on Lemmy and I’d love to manage the community while you’re gone.

Hey FUCKER, I wanted to say thanks for making this community and the posts that you made, it’s one of my favorite little corners of the internet. I agree that it could easily turn into a 196 clone without a moderator… there’s a certain difference and uniqueness here from other places that’s really hard to put a finger on. I can’t take on moderation, but I’ll be sad to see it go.

Even if you never come back to this site again, I hope you can find motivation and peace in the future, I’m rooting for you

Well now I feel bad I didn’t comment more before. Your cool posts are what kept me on lemmy, because this community did seem like a more focused/less generic 196. Hope you feel better and come back.

You prepared us for this. We are already wearing black. o7

Not so funny joke aside. I created my account on “reddit exodus” days, and thought that this place has neat potential. Now that enough time has passed and the migration craze has settled, I decided it is time to see what has grown. I have to say… I am impressed. I was afraid that this place would be overrun by bots. It is ironic that on internet pages named after death, life has grown.

I feel that burning out sensation all too well too. I’m certain that things will get better again though! These motivational pits are always just there for a bit and then they go away again!

While I’d love to suggest myself for the role you are offering, the very specific nature of the images and things posted on here is really hard to replicate. Like at the current point my phone has 93.000 Images and Videos saved on it and yet I don’t think I have anything like the stuff on here. It is just so incredibly equniqe and creative

Thank you for your kind words. When I first discovered about these images, I had a deep connection with them. They were always so unique, yet I’ve never seen nor flet anything like them before. I just to share what I liked to the Lemmy community.

I have loved this community since you started it, although I was mainly a silent lurker (sorry about that!). I loved the surrealist/absurdist slant as opposed to just garden variety memes easily found elsewhere. As much as I’d hate this community to close, I agree its Identity should be preserved, so I sincerely hope you find someone able to take over moderation.

I hope you’re able to find motivation again, or at least recover from your burnout and start feeling a bit better soon. I don’t know exactly what you’re going through, but I know for a fact that your posts here have enriched the lives of many people. I hope you’re able to take at least some solace in that.

Take care of yourself, and I hope to see you around again at some point.

Thanks FUCKER for creating and nurturing this weird little garden. Thank you for not letting this turn into r/surrealmemes or any other nameless repetitive meme hole. You will be missed, but you are more important than this community and you need to do what’s best for you.

While other communities were busy rebuilding their reddit versions, you created something unique and magical. Thank you for making the early days of lemmy special. I’m glad that someone stepped up to continue your legacy. Wish you all the best, take care.

Hey man I loved seeing your posts, but I understand if you need to stop to take care of yourself. Thanks for making my days a little more surreal.
