There are already plenty of communities here. New communities can be created on other instances.

      Part of the reason is that this instance already has a certain topic around open source and privacy, but new communities are being created for completely unrelated topics. It also causes extra moderation work to look after these communities. So theres no reason to deal with this when countless other instances welcome new communities.

      Not directly, but you can ask a user there to create a community and add you as mod. Or do this with your second account.

  • @nutomic@lemmy.ml What about the ability to subscribe to something kinda like following a hashtag on mastodon. So instead of subscribing to every say c/programing community that pops up, as you don’t know which one will pop off, instead your feed will automatically get posts from all federated instances that have a c/programing community.
