Hi,

I’ve recently bought my first EV - a 2014 Nissan Leaf - and hoping someone a bit more knowledgeable than me could help :)

The car itself has a Type 1 and CHAdeMo socket.

I have a Type 2 to Type 1 charging cable and a separate adapter plug, but I’ve found that some charging stations have Tesla branding and weird two-part plugs on that don’t seem to fit.

In the interests of being able to use as many charging stations as possible, I’d really like to know which adapter would be most useful to buy!

(I’ve mentioned UK in the title, as I’m aware America likes to do its own thing when it comes to plugs.)

Any help would be really appreciated!

Type 2 CCS is the way to go in Europe. Unfortunately for you, Nissan made choices for the Leaf that turned out to not be future proof here.

What may be confusing is that you have the AC Type 2 plug, used for low speed charging, and the Type 2 CCS plug, which has a type 2 plug (for data connection) plus 2 pins for the power:

This is the future for high speed chargers in Europe. You want to be compatible with that if you want to use a high speed charger.

Thanks - I’m pretty sure this is the plug that I saw.

Isn’t that always the way? 😅 At least when my wife needs a new car, I’ll know what to look out for now!

Thanks again, both you and @18107 have been really helpful.
