More terrible range estimates incoming.

Jalopnik is mostly just quoting stuff from another article that was quoting forum posts. So its basically hearsay at this point. Still, its further evidence that Cybertruck’s range is utter crap (and these original posts seem legitimate, as they originate from pro-Tesla sites).

Right. as time goes on, the lithium ion battery capacity will continue to degrade until it’s just like that crappy laptop in the closet that only runs if it’s plugged in. Batteries have a limited number of times they can be recharged. Only way to fix it is to either rebuild the battery, or replace the battery. Either is expensive, but not sure if it’s cheaper than the cost of charging and replacing versus gas for the same time period. Remember, you can’t charge your car for free. You either pay a higher electric bill, or pay a fee at the supercharger station. Lower end is about 25 bucks to charge up to full from 0 at a super charger. Compared to the last time I gassed up my Yaris, I paid 27 bucks, and I get about 250 miles from that full tank. Not sure if a tesla actually beats that or not. Doesn’t sound like the Cybertruck does though.

Anecdotally, 0-80% at a supercharger on my M3 costs about $15, but I live in an area with relatively cheap power. It’s also much less expensive (about 50% less) if you charge at home.

I have a hunch that it’s driving the tri-motor configuration incorrectly, and I wonder if it’s getting less horsepower as well.

I live in a ridiculously cheap area and my former Model 3 was $4.50 to charge fully.

That said, my friend in California would pay 7x what I pay so it really wouldn’t work for them.
