Wow. This whole situation has evolved rapidly. It will be the end of an era. Everybody should strap in for a while until the community settles on what fork will be the one to be best maintained going forward. A bit of a shame that they can’t leave the repo up even if its archived and no longer updated.
A long time developer and the (one? not clear on it) maintainer of SY have already made plans to go forward with a new fork/name.
Look up for Mihon.
Is there a repo?
Just got the chance to do some research on this. The relevant (reddit) post is here.
Only a Discord for the time being.
I’ll see how the situation evolves. Already looking up the documentation for Kavita and Komga. Need to see how to feed automatic downloading and push notifications for when something new comes out.
This feels the same as when MangaRock closed down.
For Push it would surprise me if neither supported NTFY, it’s becoming the defacto standard for this kind of thing.
Was thinking of scripting it out. Didn’t know about ntfy, thank you.
Kinda hoping for a Streisand effect here tbh
Anyone wondering how to move forward, check this post https://lemmy.world/post/10680511
Just like people retiring from the web space, you can probably expect more open source applications to cease development in 2024. At least there’s something else to look forward to.
