How did you get started?

What are some of your favorite pieces, or most often used pieces?

And let’s be sure this doesn’t turn into a competition. I’ve been collecting and restoring for a decent amount time, but I’m just as interested in hearing from someone who’s just starting out as I am from an avid collector…everyone’s welcome! I’ll post my own in the comments.
Was unhappy with my Teflon pan, because after 4 years of almost daily usage it was in a bad shape. I was playing a lot of Player Unknowns Battleground at the time and as you might know, you can use a cast iron pan as a melee weapon in this game. I found a Lodge 12" classic cast iron skillet online and bought it as joke because this is the same model they used in the game. First I only showed it to my friends who also played the game as a joke and only rarely used it for actual cooking. But the more I used it the more I saw the benefits of a cast iron. This was about 5 years ago and I still use it couple times a week. Thinking about buying a dutch oven and I keep my eyes open for any old cast iron pans on ebay in my area. I want to try to restore one.
