Anyone else kinda hate how leaks became a marketing thing
Fairphone is the phone I want to want.
I dig the repairability and translucent back but I’m expecting to be underwhelmed by the camera and performance.
Same. I use my phones for many years — I’m still using the Pixel 3 — so the easily replaceable battery is really appealing, but I don’t know if I can deal with the inevitably underwhelming camera.
How do people here feel about the lack of headphone jack?
I feel a phone that trades on being a bit more “free” and “open” should still have one.
I think not having a headphone jack goes against their whole sustainability and repairability values. Wireless earbuds are just about the least repairable or sustainable electronics available, you’d think they would want to encourage the use of wired earbuds.
I love Fairphone but am not hugely interested in FF4 because of the lack of an AUX connection
Are they bringing back the AUX connection?
Thats literally the thing I want to know most.
Also though, they should launch outside EU. Theres a huge internationally now for repairable devices. I could see a Fairphone 5 do crazy numbers in the US
But please FF, bring back the AUX
Let’s hope they don’t sign their root of trust with publicly available Google development private keys this time and fix their other shit so you can actually get some semblance of security on their phones!
