I thought it’d be interesting to hear what everyone is into. For me I currently have Jason Isbells new album, Weathervanes, on repeat. It’s a masterpiece and I can’t wait to see him and the band live at the end of the month.

My mainstays at the moment are Ass Ponys and Wussy. Those guys just rock so hard.

Wussy is one of my favorites. I got to see them play in St. Louis a few years ago and it was a great show. I was crushed when I heard John Erhardt died. He added a lot to their sound.

I wish I could see them live. Consider yourself lucky. And yeah, his death was a tragedy. ‘Swathes of noise,’ as Lisa Walker once put it. I’m really hoping for another album or something by them. But I must say, Chuck Cleaver’s solo effort is an absolute banger.

Oh, it’s great. ‘I’m so happy that I found you, I can’t stand to be around you,’ and more lyrical genius. The album is called Send Aid, and it’s available on Bandcamp.

The Beach Boys Smile Sessions is my latest acquisition that I’ve gotten really into. Never listened to them much before, aside from the hits on the radio or whatever. It’s an unfinished album they finally went back to and pieced together from thousands of tapes; it sounds like it should be the soundtrack to a haunted beach resort.

I’ve been really enjoying the new Dj feature on Spotify, it actually seems to play a decent mix of what I’ve been listening too and showing me new stuff I might not have otherwise listened to.

Is it better at bringing in new types of bands than discover weekly? I feel like the things I heard became so much more narrow when I switched to that instead of a curated station.

I honestly find that my discover weekly does tend to bring in a lot of new stuff, I make sure to spend the time to tell it what I liked and didn’t like from it’s offerings every week though.

To answer your question though, yes the dj does seem to do a good job of bringing in new music I’m into, I don’t know if it does the same kind of learning the discover weekly does cause there isn’t a way to tell it you didn’t like something.

I’m a big fan of high energy groups blending styles and musical traditions. Bloodywood, Dubioza Kolektiv, Gogol Bordello, WagakiBand, Babymetal, that sort of stuff

The album “In the Air” by The Handsome Family was my latest spin. I’ve also been listening to a lot of Califone and Red Red Meat.

There is such a wide variety here in these few comments! I’m looking forward to seeing what you all post for me to check out. I just posted a tune from an album I’ve been obsessed with since I heard it on WFMT’s weekly Irish show.

Having a tough time stopping Sleep Token’s latest release, Take Me Back To Eden. When I’m not listening to that it’s a mix of harder stuff. Lorna Shore, Lamb of God, Dillinger Escape Plan, Gojira, The Acacia Strain, Infant Annihilator, Slaughter to Prevail, Periphery, etc.

…though Electric Callboy’s recent cover of Every Time We Touch bops too.
