The best configuration out of it is represented in Manjaro Sway. Try itnin Live mode. Format your usb stick with Ventoy2Disk and it’ll be the last time you’ll ever format it.

Cool, thanks. I’m running vanilla Arch, so I’m not sure if I can use Manjaro sway. And thanks for introducing me to Ventoy2Disk; I’ve been using etcher for the longest time.

After formatting your usb stick with Ventoy2Disk, you just download and drag&drop the Manjaro Sway .iso-file into that usb stick. Then you boot and press the boot selector key, choose the usb stick and then the Manjaro Sway.

It boots straight into the working desktop. You don’t need to install anything and it is fully usable. That’s why it’s called ‘live mode’.

Ventoy2Disk works with Windows too. And rumors say even with MacOS(Hackintosh) but I’ve never tried that.

Found an x61 and an x200t at a flea market in Bremen two days ago and let my girlfriend talk me out of this 15€ purchase :D :/ I still have a 1400x1050 panel sitting in the drawer.

Nice! Yeah, it’s awesome when you can find them dirt cheap because they are out of date. I think I paid $40 for mine.

Do you have the old CCFL backlight or LED? The X61s might all be LED but it’s been a while since I’ve fiddled with them.

If it’s CCFL see if you can easily swap to LED and you should get much better brightness.
