Hey guys, do you have any recommendations for somewhat affordable four season gear? I’ve been camping in -10C to -13C last winter with my Eno DoubleNest, DD Underquilt and DD superlight tarp. The setup worked fine up until -10C, but at -13C it starts feeling a bit chilly.
I’ve been looking at Bushmen underquilts which cost somewhere around 365€ to 400€, or Cumulus Selva which goes fro 410€ to 440€. Add a four season sleeping bag and potentially another tarp and I’m looking at >1000€ 😱
What kind of winter setup do you have?
I haven’t done any camping at temps that low - hammock or otherwise. I would guess you’ll get the most bang for your buck in an upgraded underquilt, a tarp you can close the doors on (think a full, floating tent… something like the Warbonnet Superfly or a DutchWare winter tarp), and a really nice / warm topquilt.
