I might be wrong but that looks like a house finch to me.
I was thinking last night that it the baby bird looks quite a bit different than mama bird (see uploaded photo). The baby birds I saw last year were more like little puffballs.

It’s likely a sparrow of some sort. Fox or Song. Could be a finch I suppose. Looks to be a juvenile. I’m pretty good with Eastern birds, but not so much over the mountains.
