So i made a lemmy group but im not sure how to get more people to use the group and post on it, i had one person post but they deleted there post and i think they left becasue the group is just that small. do i just wait or is there something i can do to grow the group?
any advice or tips?
Apart from all the good Lemmy suggestions, right now I think is a good moment to mention it on Reddit posts in related communities, especially in response to people complaining about the current way Reddit is going.
I‘ve come here from when various shit got deleted/banned off r/piracy and people in the comments mentioned the piracy Lemmy.
https://lemmy.world/c/newcommunities Is probably a good start to advertise it initially.
Also be prepared to work on the community for a long time. Think of it like tending to a garden. Lemmy is still pretty new as a platform but it is obviously growing. Some niche topics are less popular and will take even more time to grow compared to other topics. If you’re willing to continue posting and keep the community productive eventually more people are going to join.
yes! I see a bunch of communities created with nothing in it. If you create a community, start the conversation! Don’t squat on communities for the sake of it!
There’s a community for new communities on Lemmy.world. That’s a great place to share the word about any new communities created recently!
The community is literally called “New Communities”.
Don’t be shy! What’s the group?
I’m loving Aurelia rn. So would love to join.
Make many posts and wait for more people to join.
thank you for letting me know this.
Many people browse the all page in new to get new communitys they like, so that’s the best way to get more people, good luck :)
I think it’s hard now that there are so many popular instances already. Probably need to create some special interest instance or a lot of friends to join it to get things started.
Its about a community, not a own instance.
You could start by telling people the name of your community?
And very importantly, what the actual purpose and focus of the community is, and what it is not for. That should be in its description, so everyone sees it at a high level when browsing communities (have a look how it appears in the Communities search.
like how do i just randomly start putting it out there?
Share links to it in other posts, Add the name to this thread might help. Boot strapping a community is hard, but for starters you have to tell people that it exists.
