In what way was it “troubled”? This is the first I’ve heard about it, and the article doesn’t expand on that either. It’s making me feel like I’m the out of touch one who hasn’t kept up with every bit of news about a small ice cream company…
I think the “troubled” aspect was that they had a great thing going opening 17 stores, then they had a deal with Disney that fell apart and caused their company to go bankrupt and get acquired by an intermediate company. Then it died again under a new owner.
They actually started a new shop in Brooklyn after losing Ample Hills and I went in there a while back and as I paid, I mentioned Ample Hills shutting down to the employee. During the brief conversation, they mentioned the owners are pretty awesome.
So yeah, it warms my heart to think they got their original company back.
