I think instead of going completely dark it may be beneficial to lock down the subreddit with a sticky linking to related communities inside the federation to help people find a new home

Yeah i think ideally they could be locked down so no new posts or comments can be made, with a sticky like that. I’ve already googled some things, saw a reddit thread with info i wanted, but then it was private so i couldn’t see it.
