Does it even matter to adjust the ratio precisely if I don’t have a precision grinder and am using a Krups blade grinder? I am trying to get things as precise as possible.
I’m enjoying the V60 recipe from the last James Hoffmann book (The best coffee at home). 60 gr per liter. I experienced a lot with other recipes and ratios during the past few years, but this one is super easy to reproduce and makes great coffee every time you are awake enough to follow a 3 step guide. 😪
Yes. Your coffee uniformity and your ratio are different things. You should check this video from the one and only Mr Hoffmann.
In any case, if you are enjoying your pourovers, you may want to invest in a better but cheap hand grinder. Timemore makes great products at an affordable price.
Well yes I very much know I need to upgrade, but to what? I am usually making cups for 1 to 2 people so 500-1000ml. Actually nvm, I am using a Fellow kettle so it only holds 900ml
Ok, those are big cups. I usually made around 250 to 300ml of coffee. Timemore and 1zpresso have big grinders now, you may want one of those. I bought a C2 a few years ago and even though I have a good electric grinder, the Timemore is miles better and because it doesn’t make almost any noise, I can make coffee early in the morning.
In my case, I am the only one at home that drinks coffee so I rarely need more than 25g.

It depends. I bought a good but not really fast hand grinder (commandante c40) and despite myself being lazy I really like it for single person pour overs, which I do most of the time since my SO doesn’t drink coffee. However, when I have guests and need to grind a bigger dose (>30g), I get a little bit annoyed at how much work it is. So I’d probably recommend getting an electric grinder if you do those portions all the time.
My uncle thought his Hario Skerton Pro and siphon setup was elite, I just thought it took ages.
Same here, or 15g for 225ml water per cup. I use a Timemore C2 grinder.
I have the old C2 with the plastic wheel and it’s an excellent grinder tbh. I think I paid around 50€ and it’s more than enough from a hobbyist perspective.
I upgraded the plastic parts to metal parts last year. Very happy with that decision.
