I truly hope you are right. I think Putin will slaughter his own people for years to come to stay in power. He is currently setting up for exactly that. A new normal in which a never-ending conflict is justification for him to make rash decisions at home as conservatives refuse to question him.

Innocent Russian lives are being put into that meatgrinder along with the monsters. A violent intervention will save innocent Russian lives as well as the innocent Ukranians.

IMHO, the collapse of any archaic empire is accompanied by bloodshed. It’s kind of sad, but no matter what we do, there will be bloodshed in Russia.

One of the closest parallels is the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. The collapse of the Chinese Empire is also somewhat similar. Massive foreign intervention helped contain the imperial disease, but didn’t prevent the consequent massive bloodshed in the imperial heartland.

Nevertheless, as in the case of the Ottoman Empire, Western support enabled the western peripheries of the empire to be liberated and eventually to prosper. So your kind support for Ukraine is very helpful.
