I got a Big Fudge kit with the velvet brush and I got to say its the best so far after 2 kits with cloths that just seem to get dirty too quickly. I think the cloths must put the dirt into other grooves of the records where as the velvet brushes just brush the dirt along the top of it and out the record.
Id like to hear what everyone else uses ?
I admittedly need to upgrade! I’ve been using a large microfiber and some cleaning spray from Boundless, along with an anti static carbon fiber vinyl record cleaning brush from Opula. Both seem to do the job well enough, but I don’t think carbon fiber is the best solution for a brush.
Initial cleaning with a pad/solution from Groovewasher. This is before thd first play of any used LP and dirty new LPs.
I only handle by edges/label, so after the initial, they get a quick swipe with a dry brush before each play.
I use a homemade cleaning solution. Distilled water/isopropyl alcohol and a couple drops of dish soap in a spray bottle. Then scrub the albums with a soft bristle brush and rinse them off in the sink.
i just have a carbon fiber brush from boundless i think. i bought some generic record cleaning solution I use on really dirty ones but so far that’s worked well for me
I mainly use a Degritter (first generation) but have kept my VPI HW-17i vacuum around for dirtier used records and because it just does a different job than the Degritter. I also use the MoFi handheld brush or a Groovewasher for in-between cleans or to pick up dust from the platter if it’s been a while since I’ve played anything.
Have you seen the okki Nokki One ? I had a couple of vinyl cleaned on 1 at the local shop and they’re good.
