A federated and freedom-preserving alternative to stackoverflow!
nice is everything there CC0 or share alike?
Good call I’ll make a license statement. I want it to be public domain, but will allow other CC content if needed
Currently registrations are closed, but I will open it up eventually to mods.
Also I’ve been battling it out with nginx, so let me know if you see any issues!
This is a cool idea but it needs some very strict moderation if you want to emulate Stack Overflow. Looking at it right now it doesn’t even seem to have questions posted to it, just generic programming posts.
Yeah, moderation will be strict, hopefully I will get some mods to help me =]
I’m not sure that anyone should want to imitate Stack Overflow. But if they did, why would they not just use Stack Overflow instead?
Wonderful. This will be great. I would love to see HO get the amount of attention it deserves.
Awesome!
great!!
Can I ask why creating a new lemmy instance, rather than a new community. Instances are good for centralization, so, not a complain, however it imposes an additional account, :(
The beauty of Lemmy is the federation!
You can post on heapoverflow from lemmy.
I want to add a feature to make it easier but for now you search for the url of the sub you want to post on like this
ohh, wow, lemmy really needs to make that way easier, so subscribing and posting on other instances is made easier. I’m sure I won’t easily remember the right URL to get into the other instance community… Thanks a lot, I wasn’t aware of this way to access other instances communities…
Yeah, I added links to the sidebar of the communities to help lemmy.ml users.
This issue on github is asking for a “remote subscribe” button that should make the experience much better.
Thanks !
however it imposes an additional account
It does? Can’t you use a single one thanks to federation?
Well, on every lemmy new instance announced, including this one, in order to subscribe into communities, or to post, I need to login, and the lemmy credentials of don’t work on them, so it looks to me I have to create a new account, :(
Oh, that’s because you’re not supposed to log in on the page of their instance! You can view their instance from lemmy.ml. It’s not super intuitive right now, but the other person explained a way to do it.
If you go directly on the new instance it’s normal but you can post via lemmy.ml on heapoverflow :)

Amazing
BTW, it would be great to see a Solidity community there too. Let me know if you create it, I’ll place a link to it in /c/crypto description.
Done! I created a generic crypto sub. Maybe I’ll have to make more implementation-specific ones, but hopefully everyone can get along and live under one roof =/
done :)
He asked for a solidity sub
I don’t really want a sub for every coin, etc.
Maybe that’s necessary, and I’ll migrate the content if so
