rif is fun for Reddit, ReddPlanet, and Sync will all shut down on June 30th, just like the Apollo app.

Hopefully more will look into developing for lemmy but to most people mastodon is the fediverse so they probably won’t even consider it

The focus is on Mastodon for sure, but lately it seems Mastodon is the Twitter alternative and Lemmy is now becoming the Reddit alternative so hopefully more attention will come to Lemmy.

New to Lemmy - so this is a newbie question … I joined midwest.social and logged on via that server. If one creates a community, is it specific to the server you logged into (e.g. midwest.social) or is it shared across other servers?

It’s only shared locally on the server you share it on. If you want to share it to other communities, you need to explicitly share it on those communities on the remote servers.

DBrady has also mentioned that it effects Relay as well, though he’s given no official announcement.

The entire sub is alight with people thanking him for years of an incredible app though.

I would love to see Relay shifted to support Lemmy or Kbin though.

I’m really hoping he ports Relay over to Lemmy, but that is a pipe dream at this point. He’s currently planning to shut everything down at the end of the month when the new API pricing goes live…
