KHAN YOUNIS, Gaza Strip (AP) — Heavy fighting erupted Monday around a hospital in northern Gaza where thousands of patients and displaced people have been sheltering for weeks, as Israeli forces focus on clearing medical facilities that they say Hamas militants use for cover.

A shell struck the second floor of the Indonesian Hospital, killing at least 12 people, according to the Health Ministry in Hamas-ruled Gaza and a medical worker inside the facility. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

A shell struck the second floor of the Indonesian Hospital, killing at least 12 people, according to the Health Ministry in Hamas-ruled Gaza and a medical worker inside the facility.

Over 250 patients with severely infected wounds and other urgent conditions remain in Shifa, which could no longer provide most treatment after it ran out of water, medical supplies and fuel for emergency generators amid a territory-wide blackout.

Israel’s army said it had strong evidence supporting its claims that Hamas maintained a sprawling command post inside and under the hospital’s 20-acre complex, which includes several buildings, garages and a plaza.

The Associated Press couldn’t independently verify Israel’s findings, which included security camera video showing what the military said were two foreign hostages, one Thai and one Nepalese, who were captured by Hamas in the Oct. 7 attack and taken to the hospital.

Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan dismissed the latest announcement, saying “the Israelis said there was a command and control center, which means that the matter is greater than just a tunnel.”

Doctors Without Borders, an international aid group, said 70 people were killed and at least 52 wounded, including children, in strikes in the southern town of Khan Younis on Saturday.

Didn’t they have almost a month to clear up the place, and seal off the tunnel entrances, before the first IDF land troops entered the hospital premises?

Yes. That’s the risk the IDF took by giving civilians time to flee

Good news is tunnel networks, by definition, are connected. Hamas had to go somewhere.

Isn’t this the same video where the IDF claims to use a drone, then cuts to video of someone walking through a tunnel?

I thought the IDF statement was that they weren’t sending men down the tunnels because it was too dangerous?

        • That didn’t happen.
        • And if it did, it wasn’t that bad.
        • And if it was, that’s not a big deal.
        • And if it is, that’s not my fault.
        • And if it was, I didn’t mean it.
        • And if I did you deserved it.

The advance came a day after the World Health Organization evacuated 31 premature babies from Shifa Hospital. At least 28 were transported to Egypt on Monday.

Times of Israel are reporting 29 babies made it to Egypt

Following the evacuation from Shifa, over 250 patients with severely infected wounds and other urgent conditions remain in Shifa, which can no longer provide most treatment after it ran out of water, medical supplies and fuel for emergency generators amid a territory-wide blackout.

I’m guessing they are going with the WHO numbers reported before patients were evacuated. According to a doctor who was still in the hospital on Saturday, there are only 120 patients left.
