Dot Hack Sign is a mid, but it’s opening is great. Obsession by See-Saw.
Sword art online. The epitome of a mediocre anime but the music slaps.
Dot hack sign may not be that entertaining, but for me there is something special to it. I felt like it perfectly expressed how it feels to be lost in a state of depression and trying to find something meaningful, probably without even meaning to.
I actually liked .hack//sign
It’s somber and introspective with solid music throughout. I enjoyed .hack//sign more than anything else in the series.
Not just the OP, the soundtrack as a whole is an absolute banger. Emily Bindiger did a really great job singing all of the songs in the show.
Absolute duo. The anime is just your standard harem bullshit with a story that makes no sense, but the opening is so good. I watched that anime exactly because I got intrigued by the opening, and got disappointed
Absolute Duo is also my definition of average, but Absolute Soul is such an amazing opening song. Hyped you up even if the show was non-memorable.
Not just the opening, but the whole OST was so good.
Domestic girlfriend has such a banger op but its domestic girlfriend so there’s that
I don’t remember anything about dot hack except it sad so damn boring. I think it had a good premise and decent art but all the Mc did was nothing.
Sign was super hyped during release, boasting a tie in with a game series iirc.
I was really expecting something special but holy shit did it it go absolutely no where.
As a result I never watched (or played) anything else in the hack series.
It barely pays off in IMOQ(The first 4 .hack games), G.U did better to tie the game and anime together, though the G.U anime is also pretty optional.
There’s some really solid bits of .hack media, but it’s kinda lost in the less than great stuff, and the Key of Twilight manga has an uncomfortable amount of “My sister’s hot”.
Magical destroyers you would think that with that opening a show would explore some deeper an meaningful themes.
No. It doesn’t.
Opening is a banger though.(I enjoyed all shows but they had their weaknesses)
Man, I used to listen to Gunslinger Girl II’s opening on repeat for hours. But yeah, the second season was a little bit of a letdown
Gunslinger Girl (2) OST slaps, I still listen to them occasionally. Season two was alright, S1 hit harder tho
I’d argue most opening songs by Angela are pretty great, but the anime aren’t always winners.
See: https://anidb.net/creator/696/?type=songHow dare you directly call out Fafner in the Azure in this manner!?
A-ho girl was great. Knights of Sidonia even more. Also, Bakarina!
Divine Gate was exceedingly mid (not surprising, it’s based off a mobile game), but its OP One Me, Two Hearts is a banger
For sure, the OP to Assassin’s Pride. Great song, forgettable show.
One title that instantly comes to mind for me is Genesis of Aquarion. I admittedly never got very far into it because it’s really awkward to watch with other people around (looking at you mecha combining scenes). I actually really only checked out the show because I heard the OP in Taiko no Tatsujin Portable DX.
Anyway, the song is also called Genesis of Aquarion and is by AKINO.
I loved .hack it’s one of my favorites it’s not action packed but it is emotional which I thought was the point
I haven’t watched it since about when this clip of the opening was first uploaded, but I recall a lot of the emotional beats getting undercut by long bits of dialogue interrupting the events of the show.
For instance I remember some fight where it felt like every time someone started speaking all of the other characters stopped everything they were doing as if waiting for their turn to do something. Which wouldn’t have been so bad considering you don’t want the camera to miss the actiony bits but it took so much time for anyone to say their line that it was distracting.
Again, haven’t seen it in a long time so I may be misremembering, but that was the impression I got from my initial viewing.
