I set up a nuclear reactor after automating the first four sciences. But even though I researched everything I could up to that point, there is seemingly no way to set it up in a sustainable way. Both U-238 and spent fuel cells are piling up.

Naturally, the spent fuel cells are so little that they are less of a problem, but the U-238 requires a lot of steel chests to store.

It seems like without automating further sciences, I am unable to solve the U-238 problem. Is there any other way out, or do I need to automate more sciences before actually using nuclear?

Honestly, I don’t ever use nuclear power. By the time I unlock it, Ive already created a self-sustaining factory with immense defenses. Boiler blocks with solid fuel and solar panels charging hundreds of accumulators do just nicely placed at the center of my factory.

Yeah, has happened to me as well a few times. In my current playthrough I am trying to do the things I usually don’t do, or that are not necessary to launch a rocket. On the plus side, it reduces the workload from oil processing, and shifts it a little. I wonder how it does in terms of pollution though?

always have the option of destroying your stockpile chests and letting the bots rebuild them

Yeah, unfortunately everything that uses U-238 requires more than just the first four sciences…

You keep saying the first 4 science.

You can do yellow or purple one you have red, green, and blue.

You choose to do yellow after blue. I’ve always chosen purple next after blue. Yellow is good for robot logistics. Purple is so much more value IMO. Faster assembly machines, faster belts, effect transmission (which further speeds up assembly machines).
