I don’t think it’s a “nitpick” at all… What’s the point of topic-specific communities if you’re going to post completely different content? I get that Lemmy is content starved compared to some other sites, but ignoring community themes and posting stuff that’s vaguely topic-adjacent is counterproductive. Moe isn’t my thing (I stumbled here from all), but if it were I wouldn’t be thrilled to find a community that by name should be filled with cute but instead is infused with horror. That’s a fast ticket to an unsubscribe. If you want to post this kind of content, go start a “FitGesugao” community, or a more general community like “FitAnimeGirls” or whatever.

I’m the sole mod of this community, I will post what I want. (Subject to wider discontent)

Even then… you don’t have much of a point. This is the eight most upvoted post in the last month, but I guess you are free to give it a second downvote. Or perhaps you already gave it its first.

The cuteness requirement of r/fitmoe never made sense to me, that hasn’t been how the word is used for a while now. It can refer to any character that invokes attachment and affection. Even the original definition is that of a feeling, not “something cute and innocent” as a google search will tell you. The word doesn’t refer to a defined type of character. Different people experience moe towards different characters.

Not that cute was ever mutually exclusive with scary. Quite the opposite, for me they are complementary, not mutually exclusive, traits.
