    In my newest time period…

Played on Insane zombie amount (and with lots of mods).
The helicopter event came in an OK timing. I had enough food to last for even a longer time. Except that when I heard a window bust broken, I decided to flee the place.
I think that was a mistake. Instead of checking, was there only one zombie going in, I ended up running quite far away on the train tracks of Muldraug (spelled correctly?).

Not much water left, I slowly started pushing the zombs back towards my base. I used the planks of the tall wooden fences broken down by them and a mod to turn them into branches and then spears. I destroyed soooo many spears! But I also destroyed lots of zombies!
Carried two sacks - one of wood and other of items with me, always dropping them when I saw more zombies (fighting + overencumberance = no-no). I slept maybe 3-6 times under a tree during daytime (night-owl personality) and ended up fighting in the dark for the most of the time.
I ran out of water at some point. A little panicky about it, I left the tracks, did a risky run to the nearest house with maybe 200+ zombies following me, got two bottles filled with water and ran back, kept pushing…

I managed to get to the base when I got bit.
Soon after I added more mods and felt like I want to create a new save for their effects so I eventually deleted this save.

But it was a fun ride!
The game reminded me after months of not playing that when you see 4+ zombies, you rather run away than start smacking them in the head with a frying pan. And that fences are a bit over-powered with less than ten zombies. And that with a spear you can deal with more zombies at a time (+with a decent level in…what was it called…nimble?).

I was counting on the brief window of escape if I wake up next to (a) zombie(s).
Meaning that you have a certain moment and can still move before they interact with you.

Luck, maybe. Some skill it requires at least! And keeping your head cold 😉
