As an American Open source aficionado, former distro contributor, and patcher of middleware libraries?
I’m working customer service in a country that seems to want me dead. Post jobs or shut up and swallow the spyware.
Hey, here is an idea, a jobs core that is government subsidized that functions to increases and maintain the pool of open source developer talent by paying open source developers to contribute to general software that is of use to the government.
…or of use to the general populace.
Most any English speaking country worth living in has grants for art projects that are large enough to export. This is especially the case for TV programming in the age of Netflix.
It’d be great if we had something like that for free software. I’d be overjoyed to move so the money can recirculate inside my patron country instead of a fascist hellscape.

I guess I meant paying programmers to do boring programming work to make tools that are useful for the running of every day life but that none of us who aren’t programmers never think about.

I’m not sure how Netflix internationalizes its content, but I believe your statement extends beyond English-speaking countries. Most casts seem to be international these days, as well as filming locations. Actors speaking English with an accent aren’t a problem anymore.
