I will be installing postmarketOS and Phosh on a OnePlus 6. Aside from things I could find on the wiki, are there any quirks of postmarketOS I should know? And what are some solid Linux mobile apps that you like to use?

There are issues with rotating on gnome, the video is potato quality and the screen goes black when entering a call.

I just did this earlier today. The installation went smoothly, the main quirk is that postmarket ships with almost no software.

Being kinda annoyed by that is as far as I’ve gotten so far.

But you have access to flat pack, which can’t be said for other big Mobile distributions. (Except Mobian and PocketBlue)

After a bit more research, it looks like you are able to install two different UIs on Linux phones, just like how you can swap between DEs in desktop Linux. Pretty neat, I might have to try Plasma Mobile too!

It looks very cool, but it some more effort would be required for my OnePlus 6, since it was originally designed for the PinePhone (I see the wiki mentions extra systemd / OpenRC commands specifically for sxmo)

I might try it in the future, but I will try out Phosh first. Baby steps.

    Off topic:
I tried to install it on a Pixel 3a yesterday. It said “not enough space” for the OS, I couldn’t fine anything about that. So I just installed the bootloader. Now I’m in a loop and don’t know how to get back to fastboot-mode. So, don’t be stupid like me, I guess.
