This is from last February. And, yes, they are wild.
There have been parakeets in the UK for a long time, almost certainly originally escaped/released pets, but for the last 30+ years a significant population have established themselves so most parakeets in the UK today are not pets but born wild.
In my local park, you can often see a bunch of them. Especially during winter when they can’t hide as easily in the canopy (but we can hear them all year long).
They’ve been spotted as far North as Scotland, but the biggest population is in South England.
