Luigi scared them so badly they made a hollywood film demonising Robin Hood, lmao
I have heard it long ago that whoever the real person(s) behind the tale of Robin Hood were, they were no “Taking from the Rich and giving to the Poor” heroes.
But yeah, I never expected to see “ackshuly, historical facts” made into a movie.
I’m mildly curious and will surely watch it shortly after it starts streaming.
Bonnie and Clyde were celebrated as heroes by the citizens who lost everything in 1929 when the banks failed. They were just acting in self interest but it didn’t matter because people wanted them to hurt the banks. It’s the same story with the train robbers like Jesse James from the guilded age. Studies show as the general population loses faith in their government and institutions their support for vigilantism goes up and that’s where we find ourselves now with Luigi. In England where the Robbin hood story took place they were under the feudal system so I’m guessing public sentiment was not in favor of the feudal lords and their enforcers. Anyone that challenged that oppressive system would have been hailed a hero to the peasantry whether they gave back or not. However, giving back would certainly buy you more protection from the people and would be a strategic investment in your own security. El chappo knew that too. Anyway that’s my two cents. The story is probably loosely based on true events but has probably been exaggerated over time.
They tried to do that already with Rusty Crowe as the Sheriff, but then it turned into him playing Robin Hood as well in a dual role, and finally into Rusty just being Robin Hood as the good guy but the most boring version of that ever.
I really wish the “it’s afraid” meme didn’t portray the poster viewpoint as a space nazi because this would have been a good time
Is this one of those villain origin story movies where they try to justify why Prince John is such an asshole?
He never got his big red india-rubber ball.
Sure seems like it.
This looks like Logan with a Bow and man I hope it is at least half as good as that.
I am so tired of Robin Hood flicks, but Hugh Jackman is awesome, so I will be checking this out.
This is the second movie of 2026 where Hugh Jackman dies.
this is a musical, right?
I heard that robin hood was no hero. I hope this movie really dives into that
Downvotes aside, you’re right. He was a Lord and a crusader. Dude was a real piece of shit who only took a face turn when the king’s brother seized his land.
robin hood being a lord is already a rebrand of an older story. in the older stories he was a commoner and scared lords. whether there are even older stories, i don’t know.
Figures england would rewrite him as nobility, that tracks
I was just making fun of the posters tagline
Then the poster makes a good point.
