In the recent Lemmy developer update, there’s a reference to one Lemmy developer, SleeplessOne1917.

I found some horrifying comments from this user.

    The whole point is to disincentivise people to act like this, it doesn’t ruin the product but to a certain extent you are supporting his views if you support him financially

    This is wrong on so many levels. Punishing someone like this will not make him change his mind. It will just make them angrier and more entrenched in his views. As long as you’re not paying them to post their ideas online you’re not supporting their views. They can just as well interact with people online as part of dev community as in McDonalds.

    This is such a non-issue the line here is super hard to even cross. You would have to prove that the code he added was for example downvoting pro-Israel content or banning users from Israel or something. Other than that complaining about who wrote what code is just posturing.
