Are any windows users running their deck using the Big Screen mode of Steam and, if so, how is the experience?

The interface for launching games and the steam menu will be the same. You won’t get any of the performance controls like fps cap/refresh rate/TDP. Suspend/sleep won’t work with many games and many will crash or not run right after sleep unless you restart the game.

Right - so I might (and I say might) give up a couple of creature comforts; I never mess with the power settings, but I do like the suspend in the places that it works. Still, might be worth me not having to fight linux/proton for my fairly extensive non-steam windows library.

Yeah, that’s how Big Picture works. The suspend on it is the same garbage Windows suspend. I don’t use it on my Deck, but it is on my main rig.
