Before the Trump administration intensified sanctions on the island, Cubans were already facing extreme poverty and widespread shortages. As living conditions continue to deteriorate, Cuban leaders have vowed to resist and have approved another round of severe austerity measures for the population to endure.

I’m surprised China hasn’t volunteered to implement a massive solar/electric project there. The island’s pretty small, there’s no hard military advantage to doing so, it’s within their belt & road initiative, and would piss off the US.
May the oil industry crumble and their stranglehold on the people of the planet fail so spectacularly - they can blame only themselves for their suffering in a final blink of self awareness and justice
