Modern cars are weird to begin with. But yes, changing the windscreen wiper settings on the touchscreen, buried 3 menu levels deep might not be the most clever solution. I bet they’re now going to add 500 similar, tiny buttons and it’s still annoying. I like my very old car with 3 round nobs for climate and then like 10 buttons total and the usual levers next to the steering wheel. Super easy to operate. Doesn’t have elaborate electronic gadgets, though.

i have a 2013 a6 allroad, and i used to think that audis solution was terrible… but after seeing the touchscreen hell in newer cars, I’m now quite fine with the badly placed knob and buttons.

Next step is to force Apple and Google to make their mobile integrations, CarPlay and Android Auto, to be navigable using buttons or a control wheel on the steering wheel.

I have a 2021 Seat Leon, with a brilliant control knob for the volume and play/pause, I’d love to use the other control wheel to navigate CarPlay, just add a small back button, and everything needed is there.

That’s great news, I hate the touch controls on my Golf VIII. Next step will be to remove options as a service.
