A guy in the building I live in was being very ableist the other day. He was saying something about there being a person who was faking being disabled because they didn’t use their cane all the time. I don’t know anyone else in the building who uses a cane besides me, so I feel like it he was taking about me. I don’t need my cane 24/7 because I’m not inconstant pain since that’s not how my condition works. Really stung.
Prick. Disabilities are different every day! Does he think you fake it on certain days only? That you mark your calender to fake it Monday’s, Thursday’s, fridays and Saturdays only?
I don’t talk to him much since he is just an asshole, he doesn’t even go outside to smoke. I hope for his downfall since he sucks so much, acts like he knows better than everyone else.
He probably would believe I mark what days I use mobility aids. Or that I only use them when out in public since I take off my braces all the time when I get back. Though that’s because they get hot after wearing them all day and that how much pain I am in varies over the day.
If only you were faking your life would be simpler…
I spent two days shooting a diorama that filled out my dining table, and now I have a lot of cool art, but it’s been getting a lukewarm reception wherever I try to show it off.
Like, I enjoy what I created, and maybe that’s enough, but I wanted to inspire feelings of wonder and cozy fantasy in other people.
It was at least fun to work on.
Show it off here! We love seeing members creations. Either do a post or wait till this week’s creative Wednesday
Just one still frame for now.

That’s incredible 😲 Both the photography and the art itself. I really like how you’ve put the figures in such realistic positions, you’ve honestly brought them to life. Not easy when they’re small, have limited movability and not massively lifelike. The blossoms look great.
Do you mind if I use it for my phone wallpaper? I really like it

Omg you’re right I do love that one even more. How would you feel if we made the figures section WomensStuff’s userpic? I think it’d be perfect but it’s your art, so totally your decision
Yeah! :D
Awesome thanks so much! Just changed it we love showcasing members works. Do you mind if I do a post about it?
Absolutely! I think I may have one you appreciate more, perhaps!
Thanks mate and can’t wait to see the others!
I’ve sent full posts with an artists’ reflection on them to c/lego and c/photography, if you’ve wanted to see more!
Nice one thanks
Holy!!! That’s amazing!!! 🤩
Anyone watching the angry little neckbeards lose their shit over italy’s femicide laws?
A couple of months ago, there was a thread on small ways people are privileged that folks don’t think about. There was one comment about how left handed people live in a right handed world and that has lived rent free in my head ever since.
Obviously it’s nothing terrible but it’s literally everywhere. I went to buy new gardening shears, they all have right handed locking mechanisms. Most coffee mugs when held in the right hand show the picture to others and held by a lefty, the images faces the drinker. Most pencils with images or writing are right side up in the right hand and upside down in the left. Even my lint paddle must be held in the right hand for it to work at all.
There was a small wood shop in Talkeetna, Alaska that had an entire wall of hand carved left handed cooking utensils. I bought one and will be getting more.
Then, a couple of weeks ago, I was at one of those really fancy restaurants where they serve you 7-8 courses of very small plates, they only seat 8 people twice a day and cook the food right there. During the first course, everything was set up the same with utensils on the right side. At the second course, everyone had utensils on the right side except for my partner and I, our chopsticks were on the left side. They noticed we were both lefties!!
I have NEVER experienced that outside of my own home, since we are both lefties, I set tables that way. I was so impressed that the staff paid that much attention to detail and accommodated us. When we were waiting outside for our ride, two of the chefs stood out there until everyone was gone. I made sure to let them know how impressed I was and thanked them for the switch. I felt seen as a left handed person for the first time in my 40 years. I’ve been living off that high for weeks now lol.
The only products that offer left-handed options seem to be scissors and pc mice
