Do you consider killer clowns in horror to be important to juggalo culture? I just watched Clown (2014) and I was thinking about this. Killer Klowns from Outer Space, It, Art, Wrinkles, etc. Who’s your favorite? As a character, Art is horrible and great. Killer Klowns from Outer Space though is probably my favorite movie about killer clowns.

2014 Clown was probably my favorite clown movie until art came along.

I’m not a juggalo I never made that connection until you brought it up, but that’s a really interesting point.

Got me wondering about the history.

“Several names were considered before Bruce recalled his dream of a clown running around in Delray, which became the inspiration for the group’s new name: Insane Clown Posse. The group decided they would all don face paint due to the success of their former clown-painted hype man.[9] Upon returning home that night, Bruce says he had a dream in which “spirits in a traveling carnival appeared to him” – an image that would become the basis for the Dark Carnival mythology detailed in the group’s Joker’s Cards series.[9]”

    According to this article.

Wow they really built their movement from the ground up.

Sorry for the tangent, i used to listen to ICP back in college but haven’t really explored the culture much since then, so it was interesting to read about their history.

No need to apologize for a tangent. One of the things I love about ICP the most is the mythology that they built. The lore. I love that stuff. I’m not a religious person but I really love learning about the mythos behind it all. I did like the attempt at explaining the origins of clowns in the movie Clown. Little cheesy, but I like cheese.

Yea, i think they largely successfully balanced the cheese of the clown legend with the body horror elements and brutality, especially in the latter parts of the movie. That’s a very interesting movie, 2014 clown. I get sucked in every time, the pacing is perfect.

Man, if you like band lore, NOFX hepatitis bathtub and other stories is such a fun and fascinating read. Extremely entertaining and gritty and blunt.

I think the whole “clown” angle is why I like ICP more than Dark Lotus. It makes things a bit more ridiculous which is disarming, but then they catch ya by actually being serious. There’s a perfect blend that ICP’s got, like 1 part clowns, 1 part street gangsters, 1 part scrubs, 1 part supernatural. The other Psychopathic acts don’t have that perfect blend.

As far as non-ICP wicked clowns, I dunno, I’m not that familiar, I read “It” back when I was a kid and I know about The Joker ofc. Oh yeah and this skit from Key n Peele.
