The passenger pigeon. The Tasmanian tiger. The Baiji, or Yangtze river dolphin. These rank among the best-known recent victims of what many scientists have declared the sixth mass extinction, as human actions are wiping out vertebrate animal species hundreds of times faster than they would otherwise disappear.
We are a walking, talking extinction event.
Indigenous peoples lived since time immemorial in balance with nature. Don’t pretend that it’s everyone that is causing this. We told you this would happen, but nobody would listen and just wrote us off as primitive and ignorant.
We were all indigenous til the industrial revolution. Don’t get racist.
Oh for god’s sake there’s nothing “racist” in the comment you responded to, and their point is absolutely correct: we’ve been told for generations that this would happen and indigenous people just get ignored and marginalised.
